Unveiling Groundbreaking Distance Learning Cooperation

In a historic partnership, Talaee Arriyada Institute (TAI), the Canadian Board of Occupational Medicine (CBOM), and the University of Alberta (U of A) are opening CBOM membership by examination to physicians from India, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Brunei, Malaysia, China, South Korea, Mongolia, Vietnam, Laos, Singapore, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Iran who completed parts A and B of the U of A’s Foundation Course in Occupational Medicine. The Foundation Course in Occupational Medicine is offered in the Gulf Council Countries and neighboring nations through a partnership of TAI and the U of A.

Expressing his delight, Dr. Jalees Razavi, representing TAI emphasized the significance of this agreement in enabling education and qualification in Occupational Medicine in the Gulf Council Countries and neighboring nations. He stated: "This agreement has been a dream of mine for years. Thanks to the collective efforts of our organizations, we are now turning it into a remarkable reality. Physicians in the region will benefit from learning and interacting with Canadian physicians and will then be eligible for the three levels of CBOM. This will benefit their region through sharing and applying their knowledge.”

Dr. Doug Hamm, CBOM board member and Past President, echoed Dr. Razavi's sentiments, expressing his satisfaction in reaching this agreement. He stated: "I am delighted with our new collaborative venture. This is a milestone for CBOM in offering international certification and is a catalyst for the ongoing growth of our membership. I look forward to the opportunities to expand the recognition of Occupational Medicine expertise."

Dr. Sebastian Straube, Professor in the Department of Medicine at the U of A Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry and Director of the Foundation Course, commented: “I am very pleased to work together with TAI and CBOM. This cooperation enables physicians from the region who completed our Foundation Course to obtain recognized Canadian professional qualifications in Occupational Medicine. This tremendously enhances the value our course provides for them, and it further strengthens the U of A’s global presence.”
